When they stop texting

I forget. Help me remember O Lord.

When they stop texting I feel like I’ve failed Like I wasn’t good to them Like I was too selfish Or I didn’t listen - Not a ‘good’ christian, Just another typical male

When they stop texting I feel like I wasn’t a good friend Like I haven’t witnessed to Christ And the good that He brings Like when I say ‘like’ too much Like I’ve let them down, but worse: Like Christ didn’t come to mend

When they stop texting I forget I forget what a ‘good’ christian Really is for me; Not a man who’s life sings But a man who knows his sin Who knows he needs & the goodness of his Father who brings

When they stop texting I forget. I forget to look up - At the stars and the heavens And look! A shooting star! And look, yet again another! And on my face a smile now swims

I forget You my Lord I forget You too much But You are my refuge You even bring my forgotten lunch! You provide and You mend Comfort comes from Your Spirit Like the wind, He comes where You send…

In the hearts of the lowly In the hearts of the meek Of those downtrodden Of those who know they weak

You are enthroned and mighty A judge and a friend Holy Fire is in Your eyes And yet You caress, and You tend

When they stop texting I pray I look again to You When they stop texting Help me remember,

Your Word always rings True
